Central Asia is a crossroads of civilization on the Great Silk Road

The article is devoted to the study of the main fortifications that were on the "northern" and "southern" roads of the Great Silk Road and passed through the territory of Central Asia up to the ХІ1 century. It is noted that Central Asia was the habitat of many civilizations, which is confirmed, first of all, by remains of fortified sites and found artifacts. It is emphasized that due to the Great Silk Road the most important ethnic processes took place, active interaction of cultures, large-scale trading operations were carried out, diplomatic agreements and military alliances were concluded. It is emphasized that many peoples of the Central Asian region have an important role, a link between Asia and Europe, which contributed to the dissemination of letters and world religions, technical achievements, the dialogue of the civilizations of the East and the West.
