The article examines the process of formation of the legal status of judicial officials in the XVIII century. The rights, duties and responsibilities of civil servants are being studied. Legislative acts regulating the legal status of officials are analyzed. It is concluded that during the period under review, although the legislator has not yet succeeded in separating judicial power from administrative power, he is developing a substantial regulatory framework governing the procedure for public service, the rights, duties and responsibilities of officials of departments with judicial functions.
