PSYCHOLOGY AND WORLDVIEW OF RESIDENTS OF THE AMERICAN SOUTH

The presented article examines the peculiarities of the psychology and worldview of the inhabitants of the American South in the era preceding the Civil War and the reconstruction that followed. The features of the economic structure of the southern states, the influence of slavery on the life and worldview of southerners, and their mentality are characterized. The uniqueness of the spiritual culture of the inhabitants of the American South is emphasized, their commitment to traditional values, family, and Motherland, as the qualities that determined the mass heroism and resilience of southerners in the face of the trials that befell them during the Civil War.
