SUPERVISION IN THE PSYCHOTHERAPY OF NEUROTIC CLIENTS

The article scientifically justifies the need for supervision in the psycho-therapy of neurotic clients. It describes the main problems of establishing a therapeutic alliance and the procedural features of psychotherapy, due to the psychological issues of neurotic individuals: the level of mental functioning, maladaptive traits of the personality structure, limited coping strategies, specific patterns of reflection and mentalizing, as well as the therapist's psychological preparedness to take these factors into account. The possibilities and directions for supervision in addressing potential dif-ficulties in the course of neurotic client psychotherapy at various stages are outlined, including assessing the client's condition, severity and char-acteristics of neuroticism, degree of therapeutic alliance harmony, and therapist willingness to enhance their therapeutic potential. The results of the analysis presented here clarify scientific ideas about the potential use of supervision to enhance the effectiveness of psychotherapy for neurotic clients.
