THE PROBLEM OF HUMAN DIGNITY AND RENAISSANCE INDIVIDUALISM

Skopa V. A.  (Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Head of the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Studies Altai State Pedagogical University (Barnaul) )

The Renaissance occupies a special place in the history of human civilization. It not only gave humanity a whole galaxy of outstanding scientists and public figures, but also made a turn in the spiritual life of society, creating a new concept of humanism. Humanists were neither heretics nor atheists. On the contrary, the overwhelming majority of them remained believers. But if the Christian worldview asserted that God should come first, and then man, then humanists put man in the foreground, and then talked about God. The Renaissance clearly showed that there are no limits to the creative madness of man, especially if we allow ourselves to see the power of God in each individual. Humanists were convinced of the natural equality of people, that man can achieve everything - it is enough to want it. In conclusion, it is determined that human dignity and Renaissance individualism are inextricably linked with the idea that each person has innate value and uniqueness.

Keywords:Renaissance, ethics, man, individualism, society, philosophy.
