The psychological stage of rehabilitation of toddlers with CHD in the period of surgical treatment

Great medical achievements have improved the outcomes for heart surgery in children with CHD, and increased survival rates and improved the quality of their life. Although more than 80% of toddlers with CHD have difficulties in psychological functioning and development [1]. It is the reason that much attention is now being paid on the psychological part of rehabilitation in the general treatment process. Under psychological rehabilitation we understand the system of measures aimed at the habilitation and correction of disturbed mental functions and states of toddlers with CHD in the period of surgical treatment. This article focuses on the evaluation of the effectiveness of the program of psychological rehabilitation of toddlers with CHD in the period of surgical treatment. In the program of psychological rehabilitation we use techniques and methods of psychological influence borrowed from several therapeutic areas. We have shown that early initiation of rehabilitation measures and the inclusion in the rehabilitation process caring for a toddler with CHD person, makes the proposed program effective.
