The article is devoted to the problems of import substitution of equipment and products in Russia in connection with the introduction of economic sanctions. To investigate this problem, the possibility of introducing an import substitution program in the oil and gas industry was considered. Conditions for reducing the country's import dependency are indicated and possible risks are considered.
