Problems of commercialization of results of scientific research in universities Vietnam through spin-off company

Previously, the main tasks of traditional universities were research, the dissemination of knowledge, and the development of highly educated workers. In the early years of the 21st century, universities became creative centers where students and scientists acquire interdisciplinary knowledge and create new ideas. Currently, universities are carrying out a third mission to commercialize research results. The form of commercialization of science through the creation of spin-off companies at universities was popular in Europe and some developed countries of Asia. Commercialization of research results plays an important role in socio-economic development based on science, technology. In Vietnam, promoting the commercialization of research results in universities to serve the enterprise's innovation activities is encouraged by the Government. However, the number of commercialization results through the spin-off company from universities is still limited. This article reflects the theoretical and practical creation of spin-off companies at universities in Vietnam. And proposed solutions for the creation of spin-off companies and activation of the commercialization of university innovations.
