Probation Service – foreign experience and prospects of creation in Russia

One of the main, and in our opinion, one of the important goals of the penal enforcement policy is to ensure the reduction of repeated crimes committed by persons who have previously served both sentences related to isolation from society and penalties not related to isolation from society, that is, the desire to eradicate the so-called recidivism in society crime. After all, it is this type of crime that causes enormous damage to society and the state as a whole. The purpose of the study is to study new uniform principles and mechanisms for providing comprehensive assistance to persons released from correctional institutions and to analyze foreign experience in creating a probation service. In the new realities of modernity, our society requires the creation of a new institution, and therefore it is important to study the work of such institutions in foreign countries. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to investigate the institutions (services) of probation already established in the systems of ministries and departments of foreign countries, to study their structure, goals and practice of application. The analysis method is used in the study. The author in his article comes to the conclusion about the possibility and necessity of creating a new legal institution in Russia, which would perform the functions of assisting persons who have stumbled in their lives and violated criminal law at least once.
