WHAT WAS THE CRIMINAL LAW DURING THE DISINTEGRATION OF THE SOVIET STATE

The main characteristics of the criminal legislation in the Soviet state on the eve of the collapse of the USSR in 1991 are revealed. The emphasis is on the analysis of the norms of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR that was then in force. The in-consistency of the development of the criminal during the transitional period of Gorbachev's "perestroika" is noted. On the one hand, the political and ideological principles of the formation of offenses inherent in the socialist state were pre-served, and on the other hand, the rapidly deteriorating situation in the economy forced the authorities to use the methods of the capitalist economy, adjusting the legislation, including criminal law, accordingly.
