This paper discusses the organizational issues of independent qualification assessment, current processes and results of its integration into the sphere of national education and personnel management. Using the normative and methodological documents were reviewed the main stages of formation System of professional qualifications in Russia. Special attention was paid to the using of the System elements in the training and evaluation of employees in oil and gas sector. The article may be useful for economists, specialists of personnel management and development services, representatives of the business community, science and education.
