The purpose of this article: to reveal the theoretical concept of “professional competencies” of employees of organizations; show the difference between the concepts of “professional competencies” and “competency”. Professional competencies are a functional characteristic that depends on the level of knowledge, skills, abilities and other abilities of organizational employees. The competence of organizational employees is a behavioral characteristic that reflects the ability of employees to compete in a free labor market with their knowledge, skills, and abilities. Professional competencies of employees are a component of the organization's intellectual capital. Intellectual capital allows an organization to create competitive business models.
