ECONOMIC SECURITY OF COMMERCIAL BANKS IN THE CONTEXT OF INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES «GREEN FINANCE»

The article examines the theoretical and applied aspects of integrating innovative «green finance» technologies into the operations of commercial banks from the perspective of ensuring their economic security. The study analyzes key instruments and directions of green financing, including green and ESG bonds, green loans, and environmentally safe, climate-neutral, innovation-driven investment projects. Particular attention is paid to the impact of environmentally oriented activities of commercial banks on risk reduction, improvement of reputational characteristics, and enhanced access to sustainable sources of capital. The article provides an overview of the current state of green finance in Russia, identifies major challenges to its development – such as insufficient regulatory support, underdeveloped market infrastructure, and a low level of stakeholder awareness. It concludes that a strategic focus by banks on green financial innovations and environmental sustainability contributes to strengthening their economic security, reducing vulnerability to external and internal threats, and building competitive advantages amid the ongoing transformation of the financial market and the banking sector in particular.
