Clinical assessment of the quality of prevention of thromboembolic complications in surgery

The article presents the results of a study of anticoagulants for the prevention of thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in two analyzed groups: in 50 patients who died from acute necrotic pancreatitis in hospitals of the Chuvash Republic for the period of 2018 and 21 patients who underwent extended and combined gastrectomy for stomach cancer. The patients were between 30 and 90 years old. There were 41 men and 30 women. In contrast to the group of cancer patients, the authors noted the lack of quality prevention of PE in the group who died from acute pancreonecrosis, which led to the development of PE as the main cause of death of 3 (6%) patients. It is indicated that in medical institutions of surgical profile to date, not enough attention is paid to the prevention of PE. According to the authors, each medical institution of surgical profile should have developed an effective program for the prevention of thromboembolic complications.
