The role of the short form of the ARF protein, a product of the INK4a/ARF gene, in activation of selective mitochondrial autophagy – mitophagy

The article presents data on determining the role of the shortened form of the tumor suppressor ARF (smARF) in the activation of mitophagy. Using octeosarcoma cell line, we showed that ARF overexpression leads to mitochondrial degradation and autophagy activation, in which damaged mitochondria are delivered to autophagosomes for degradation by the process called mitophagy.
