The article is devoted to the study of the level of plasma cystatin-C in elderly patients with arterial hypertension and metabolic disorders. The aim of the work is early diagnosis of chronic kidney disease. As a result of the study, it was found that the determination of plasma cystatin-C allows detecting an early preclinical decrease in renal function. The glomerular filtration rate for cystatin-C is almost twice as likely to reveal early changes in renal function as compared to the glomerular filtration rate for creatinine. This laboratory diagnostic method is more sensitive and should be used to screen for chronic kidney disease. The article can be useful for physicians, nephrologists, cardiologists.

Keywords:cystatin-C, cardiovascular diseases, kidneys, diagnostics.
