Assessment of nutritional status in patients with achalasia of the cardia

Since patients with all stages of achalasia of the cardia have dietary restrictions due to developing dysphagia of varying severity, the assessment of nutritional status is essential. The article presents the most popular nutritional status assessment scales (NRS 2002, ESMO 2008 (ABVG), GLIM), which are subjective. The authors present their own scale for assessing the nutritional status specifically for patients with achalasia of the cardia, which allows to identify the risk of developing malnutrition, and in the case of existing malnutrition, determine its degree for the subsequent preparation of an individual plan for correcting nutritional deficiency.
