BROKEN HEART SYNDROME. MODERN IDEAS ABOUT ETIOLOGY, PATHOGENESIS AND DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA

Broken heart" syndrome is an acute heart disease that mimics an acute myocardial infarction. It is characterized by temporary dysfunction of the left ventricle, usually with peripheral apical, mid—ventricular or basal distribution. Takotsubo syndrome is often associated with severe emotional or physical stress and subsequent increased adrenergic stimulation affecting cardiac function. The disease is usually accompanied by a complete recovery, restoration of systolic ventricular function and does not require special treatment.
