The use of antimicrobial agents in the form of rinses and mouthwashes has a short-term therapeutic effect due to washout by saliva and gingival fluid, necessitating the use of local antimicrobial delivery systems to ensure prolonged action.
One such method is the use of a 0.05% solution of chlorhexidine bigluconate. In our study, we treated patients with chronic catarrhal gingivitis, dividing them into two groups: Group 1, the study group, which received treatment with a 0.05% solution of chlorhexidine bigluconate; Group 2, the control group, which received a 0.05% solution of chlorhexidine bigluconate in the form of rinses and mouthwashes. The obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness of the 0.05% chlorhexidine bigluconate solution compared to the conventional method, substantiating the feasibility of this method.
