To the question og criteria for mental self-regulation skills formation at car drivers

The article analyzes approaches to the concept of mental self-regulation. Considerable attention is paid to the importance of the formation of skills necessary to overcome stressful situations, especially by representatives of dangerous professions. Considerable emphasis is placed on the resource base necessary for successful self-control in stressful situations and self-adjustment of an equilibrium mental state. The resource base is considered from the point of view of material and intangible resources of self-regulation. Material resources primarily include various kinds of hardware and software systems for diagnosing functional states and training self-regulation skills using biofeedback systems. Intangible resources are based on the disclosure of one’s own abilities with their subsequent transfer to the level of sustainable skills for actual mental states' managing. The presented author's wording of the concept of mental self-regulation process and the selected criteria for its effectiveness are designed to help clarify both educational programs for the professional training of drivers of various categories of vehicles in the discipline "Psychophysiological Basics of Driver Activity" and the development of a course to anticipate danger for novice drivers.
