Some features of the vocal creativity of Suleiman Aleskerov

The presented article analyzes some of the features of the vocal creativity of the outstanding composer and teacher, People's Artist of Azerbaijan, Professor Suleiman Aleskerov. The author characterizes the songs by subject matter, ideological content and genre characteristics. The source of songs and romances is determined by mugam-intonation, structural and compositional features on which folk song art is based. Almost all mughams were widely used in S. Aleskerov's songs - shushtar, shur and bayati-shiraz, rast, seigah, etc. From the point of view of structure, most of S. Aleskerov's songs, as in folk music, have a verse-chorus form. The main object of the analysis in the article was the study of the musical form, mugam, rhythmic, harmonic and melodic language of songs and romances.
