Perception of music as an object of research in psychology

the perception of music is a complex multi-level process, including the physical hearing of music, its understanding, experience and evaluation, as well as the sensory perception of the sound side of musical material. The purpose of the study was to identify the multidimensionality of the problem of music perception, the main characteristics and mechanisms of the process of music perception. The object of research is the process of perception of music within the framework of musicology in the works of domestic and foreign authors: from the original meaning, where the main emphasis was on psychophysiological processes, and musical perception was studied in conjunction with sensations, hearing, perception to the allocation of psychological characteristics and specific properties, such as integrity, figurativeness, constancy, musical and intonational specificity, temporal sequence. The authors come to the conclusion that the specificity of musical perception is due to the intonational nature of music as an art.
