The relevance of the article is due to the significance of the retrospective analysis of the traces of life recorded in biographical sources, which are a kind of subjective narrative, narrative information about multidimensional social processes and types of developed activity of societies in those times to which the author paid his attention, and which can influence the formation of cause-and-effect relationships between reliable facts and historical events. The aim is to analyze housing needs, recorded in biographical materials containing information about the processes of inequality in the case of unsatisfactory housing needs. The subject is the narratives of biographical sources, which are a subjective narrative about the types of developed activity of society. The object was the recorded phenomenon of social deprivation of housing needs.
