PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS, BURNOUT AND COPING STRATEGIES IN THE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT

During the period of passing exams and writing final qualification works the stressogenicity of the educational environment in higher educational institutions increases significantly, which indicates the relevance of this study. The aim of the work: to analyse how the following determinants in the educational environment are related to each other: psychological distress, emotional burnout and coping strategies. This goal mediates the implementation of the following tasks: to disclose the content of the concepts of «stress», «psychological stress», «psychological distress», «emotional burnout»; to identify the reasons why the student's academic self-efficacy may decrease; to analyse how an individual assesses the problem situation; to disclose how students in higher education can use coping strategies. The material basis of the study was formed by the works of the following authors: G.S. Korytova, G. Sellier, T.V. Chernikova, Y.V. Scherbatykh, A. Denovan, B. Hegberg and others. Hypothesis: coping strategies can help students of higher education institutions to prevent a decrease in academic self-efficacy and the emergence of psychological distress.
