Analysis of modern domestic and foreign studies of psychophysiological correlates of insight

The article is devoted to a review of research on the problem of insight formation, concretization and description of its psychophysiological correlates. The concepts of domestic and foreign scientists describing the nature of the emergence of insight, its essential characteristics as part of the process of creative search are considered. The key characteristics of the "insight" phenomenon are systematized, showing its complexity, the presence of conscious and unconscious elements in its structure, subjective and objective parameters for its identification. Psychophysiological indicators of the course of insight, described by researchers based on the use of electroencephalography and functional magnetic resonance imaging, were analyzed. Approaches revealing the neurobiological correlates of the studied phenomenon have been identified. The available scientific data are systematized, proving the need to study the psychophysiology of insight from the point of view of the activity of complex neuronal networks.
