Primary school age is one of the most important stages in every child's life. This age period is accompanied by such psychological neoplasms as the arbitrariness of mental processes, their awareness, and reflection. Voluntary attention plays a major role in the learning process and the assimilation of necessary information. Disruption of this function causes difficulties in teaching younger students and acts as an obstacle to mastering learning activities.
This article is devoted to the study of neuropsychological features of the arbitrariness of mental functions of younger schoolchildren with learning difficulties. In the course of the research, a theoretical and methodological analysis of the literature on the concepts of arbitrariness of mental functions and learning difficulties in primary school age was implemented.
The sample included 60 children of primary school age. We divided the younger students into two groups – experimental and control. There are 30 people in each group. The average age of the children was 8 years. More than half of the children from the general sample group were female primary school age children. The study was conducted on the basis of the Municipal budgetary educational institution "Secondary educational School with in–depth study of subjects of the artistic and aesthetic cycle No. 27 named after A.A. Deineka." During the experimental part of our research, we used the archival method, observation, conducted clinical conversation and neuropsychological research using the standard neuropsychological battery by A.R. Luria (subject gnosis, kinesthetic praxis, spatial praxis, kinetic praxis), the "Triangle drawing Method" by M.P. Kononova, "10 words", the Pieron-Rouzer test, "Yes and no", "Graphic dictation".
According to the results of the study, differences were identified in the study of coordination and interaction of movements, attention functions.
