The category of freedom is becoming one of the central problems of Modern philosophy. It is considered in the context of the problem of personality as a carrier of natural and social characteristics. Freedom of will began to be opposed to the mechanism of natural mediation. Modern philosophers have expressed different, often contradictory, opinions about the place of freedom in human life, but they have always considered it in the context of individual personality characteristics, calling it the starting point for progress. Freedom has been rethought. Man freed himself from the yoke of medieval religious dogma, became free to pursue natural science, but at the same time began to feel especially acutely his dependence on political mechanisms and capitalist relations. The feeling of freedom began to mix with a sense of alienation, and at the beginning of the twentieth century it was philosophically expressed in existentialism.
Keywords:Modern times, freedom, man, personality, society, law, law, existentialism.
