The article examines the philosophical foundations of creative freedom in art and culture. This subject of research is inextricably linked with the philosophy of human freedom, while we compared our reflections with the ideas of the most significant thinkers of the two thousand-year history of European classical philosophy. Of course, artistic creativity forms its own trajectory for the development of personal freedom of a writer or musician, but the author is interested in its assessment by a professional philosopher; it is also important to understand the role and place of such a story with other aspects of the development of society.
The methodological impetus of our article is given by the philosophical concept of freedom in general. The classical philosophical tradition articulates freedom as freedom of will. Its origins date back to antiquity. The Homeric epic reveals the following meaning: "a free man is one who acts without compulsion, by virtue of his own nature." The power of nature can manifest itself in overcoming fate, elevating a person to God. In the article, our subject is creative freedom, or rather, freedom in culture and art.
Keywords:creative freedom of the artist, human freedom, freedom of will, goal-setting, genius.
