Directions of investment cooperation of Russia and Japan

The Sakhalin projects and creation of joint businesses in Russia with the Japanese companies in a production industry have determined start of the investment relations of Russia and Japan which have begun to develop within the last several decades. Today the investment cooperation has reached a new stage which shows not only quantitative, but also high-quality changes in flows of direct foreign investments, especially from the point of view of structure of investment investments and a technological level of development of industrial production. In this research the attention is paid to aspect of regional distinctions in approach of the Japanese investors to implementation of investment projects in Russia. The projects realized in the western and east part of Russia supplement each other from the point of view of investment attraction and promote development of the many-sided and diversified structure determining the directions of investment cooperation between Russia and Japan.
