The article is devoted to the study of the influence of the presence of dogs on social perception. Considering dogs and other pets as part of our culture, the author emphasizes the insufficient attention of psychologists to this area, the study of which can make a huge contribution to understanding human relationships and family psychology, in particular. The paper describes the author's experiments to test the influence of the presence of a dog on how its owner is perceived. The results obtained suggest that the development of such studies creates a new direction in the psychology of effective engagement in negotiations, advertising and just communication. The need for future cross-cultural research in this area is emphasized.
