Role expectations and aspirations during the premarital period reveal perceptions of one's own readiness to fulfill family responsibilities, as well as expectations of one's partner. A study of the content of relationship expectations and aspirations among young women from two-parent, single-parent, and divorced families reveals their willingness to take responsibility in various areas of the family and their desires regarding their partner's involvement and actions in the marital relationship. The article demonstrates significant differences in the expectations and aspirations of young women from two-parent, single-parent, and divorced families. Respondents expect greater involvement from their partners in household and educational areas.
