The article is devoted to the analysis of the possibilities of artificial intelligence technologies in the examination of the results of scientific and educational activities of elderly teachers in the context of the digital transformation of the academic environment. The relevance of the study is due to the combination of the aging processes of the professorial staff and the expanding use of AI in evaluation procedures. The scientific problem is related to the lack of sociologically grounded approaches to the legitimate inclusion of algorithmic expertise while preserving the professional identity of elderly teachers. The purpose of the work is to identify the potential and limitations of AI technologies in academic expertise, taking into account the attitudes and experience of the older generation of university teachers. The empirical basis was formed by the results of the author's questionnaire survey of elderly teachers. The results of the study show that the recognition of AI is possible when it is institutionalized in the zone of professional trust and support, rather than replacing expert practices. Conclusion: AI can become a resource for the academic longevity of elderly teachers, provided that the criteria are transparent, the teachers themselves participate in setting up evaluation procedures, and the combination of digital and collegial forms of expertise.
