At the beginning of the 20th century, traditional views on the theatre changed in Russia, stage images turned into an effective means of influencing the public position of the educated public. The Russian press of the early 20th century noted that for Russia «plays and theatres... the same as, for example, for a Western European parliamentary events and political speeches». The clash of society and power during the first Russian revolution of 1905-1907 could not but affect the theatrical environment, sensitive to the public mood. In the work of the imperial theatres clearly traced pro-government orientation. Private theatres tended to occupy positions at the opposite pole, expressing the mood of a progressive public. K.S. Stanislavsky has expressed the mood of creative intelligentsia [1]. The ruling elite tried to mitigate the radicalizing impact of theatres captured by the «poetics» of the revolution on the population, using censorship and accessible ways of administrative influence. However, the inability of the government to dialogue with the public did not contribute to the development of a clear strategy of response to «opposition» mood of «bohemians». As they moved away from the capitals, the authorities became increasingly confused, particularly in the intensification of protective measures against the servants of the muses. For example, plays authorized for imperial theatres often could not be staged on a provincial scene
