K.D. USHINSKY'S PEDAGOGY AS A SOURCE OF INCREASING PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL COMPETENCIES OF A HIGHER SCHOOL TEACHER

The article analyzes selected scientific works of K.D. Ushinsky in order to determine the descriptive characteristics and requirements for the teacher’s personality, as well as his professional competencies. The main provisions of “Pedagogical Anthropology”, “Pedagogy”, “Lectures at the Yaroslavl Lyceum” have been studied, the scientist’s main postulates on the content of the main directions of a teacher’s work have been formulated: in an educational, methodological context. Current requirements for a teacher are identified and an interpretation of K.D.’s provisions is given. Ushinsky as applied to the development of competencies of a modern higher school teacher.
