The article examines the technical progress in the dynamics of the development of the fire and emergency warning system in the capital of the Russian Empire. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, published and unpublished documents, materials, the historical aspects of the role of technological progress in the dynamics of the development of the fire and emergency warning system of the professional fire protection of Russia are comprehensively studied and summarized. The relevance of studying the problem is due to the need to apply the accumulated historical experience in modern practice on the issues of the fire and emergency warning system and its development and modernization. The scientific novelty of the study is determined by a comprehensive analysis of the positive role of technological progress in the dynamics of the development of the fire and emergency warning system in the capital of the Russian Empire, a versatile approach to studying that part of the internal political program of the government of the Russian Empire, which was aimed at improving the fire protection of St. Petersburg, and in general the fire protection of Russia.
