About some distinguishing characteristics of Arabic written words with complete consonants & vowels recordings

Guskova Olga Valentinovna  (Moscow Institute of Linguistics)

The research problem under consideration has not ever been raised by any of experts because of the absence of Written Word category in Arabic Linguistic Studies, as well as in Arabic linguistics. The scientific information reported in this paper is valuable and important from this point of view first of all for practical and theoretical issues related to the study of the Arabic Literary language (ALL). We’ve clarified in particular the concept of "gemination" not adequately interpreted to our mind by the scientists specializing in the study of ALL We’ve enriched the conceptual and terminological apparatus describing the Arabic Writing System by introducing in it the linguistic category of "digraph" that hasn’t been applied by arabists previously – the only category «Monograf» used by them seemed to us to be unsufficient for this purpose. In our research we’ve touched the Heterography usage problems in the Arabic Writing System. It (Heterography) has not yet been identified in relation to the Arabic Lirerary Language. We’ve also shown the illegality adopted in Semitology and General Linguistics of presentation left-hand writing as a pattern of semitic writing in general, Arabic writing in particular. The last one in our view is an example of mixed system of writing – left-hand (with the direction of the lines from right to left) and up-hand (with the direction of the lines from bottom to top). The significance of the article below however is not limited to the things mentioned above. We’ve reviewed with reference to the Arabic language material belonging these or those certain graphemes (written charecters) to the Alphabet ( optional for ALL) for being identified as Letters – one of the questions relevant to the Language Theory. In addition to our revealing the necessity of linguistic redefining diacritics symbols by taking into consideration the Arabic written characters. In the article below we’ve proposed one of their possible working definitions concretely for the Arabic Language.
