Timonina Tatyana   (I. Kant Baltic Federal University (Kaliningrad))

The article concerns the comparative analysis of the Platonic conception of anamnesis and its reflection in the literary structure of I. Murdoch’s novel "The Black Prince". The conception of anamnesis is a speculative ascension of a soul to the world of eidoses – initial true forms of things – through recollection caused by the love of beauty. The article reveals the connection in Murdoch’s novel between the idea of an erotic anamnesis and the idea of moral transformation which cannot be completely fulfilled due to the damaged nature of a person’s egoistic consciousness.
