The article analyses the activities of editorial board of central newspapers Pravda, Izvestiya and Krasnaya Zvezda and transformation of their work during the wartime (1941-1945). The article covers effective cooperation of editorial staff of central printed media with party leadership of the USSR and the Soviet Republics, and with the political bodies of the Red Army. The article focuses on the establishment of diverse contacts between the frontline and the home front, where the editorial staff were actively involved, on strengthening the unity of peoples of the USSR in the face of assault of Hitler’s Germany; the article recaps the instances of martial valour and endurance in liberating the RSFSR, Ukraine, Belorussia and other territories of the country from the Nazi. The article outlines an enormous role of central newspapers in exposing the theory and practices of Nazism.
