M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin – "journalist in the best sense of the word" (The analysis of the journalistic work of the great satirist in the context of the era of the second half of XIX century)

In the article devoted to the great satirist, in the background during the second half of the nineteenth century analyzes his journalistic activities. The estimation of the consummate skill of an outstanding artist of words. Marked "paradox" of the relationship in his works of such phenomena as the magnitude of the pull of the epic and "etude", which became part of the unified ideological and thematic plan and purchased the form of cycles. In the analysis of works of M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin noted unique today, both in domestic and in world literature, the fusion of contradictory tendencies in the dynamics of his literary process: "slow" and the bulk form of the narrative and the author's immediate journalistic response on a nine days wonder. Considered a cyclic phenomenon when the works of Saltykov-Shchedrin as within the cycle and between cycles, which consists in the unity of the subject, the genre, the personality of the narrator, actors, artistic tone. The author draws our attention to the enduring value of professional journalistic experience Saltykov-Shchedrin for the current generation of journalists. Detailed and thorough analysis of the themes in his works, their connection with everyday life against the background of problems on a global scale, the use of elements of "casus" folklore, "verbal formulas" and "converted" idioms has not lost its relevance today. The style of the journalist N. Shchedrin (pseudonym of the writer) is a Prime example of not just a talented journalistic prose, but a real textbook, useful for the novice and freshman journalism and venerable author.
