The article is devoted to the role of G.V. Plekhanov in disputes that erupted at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries between the great figures of world Social Democracy. The essence of the philosophical position of G.V. Plekhanov and uncovered the reasons for his disagreements with E. Bernstein and K. Schmidt on the basic provisions of ontology, epistemology, economics, political philosophy and philosophy of history.
