The historical experience of activity of bodies of the OGPU for the protection of economic security of the Soviet state in the area of concession policy in the Far East in 1923-1930-ies

Attraction of foreign capital and concessioners for restoration and modernization of the Soviet economy in the Russian Far East had politically contradictory pattern for the Soviet state. In this regard it was necessary to promote an effective control over the concessioners’ activity by bodies of the Plenipotentiary Agency of the Joint State Political Directorate in the Russian Far East region. Those bodies elaborated their own methods in system of ensuring the economic security of the Soviet regime in concession activity. The bodies of State Security became one of the basic tools in hands of the party apparatus while curtailing the concessional process.
