the linguists’ interest in studying the inner world of the speaker has intensified the anthropocentric approach to the language. The study of fundamental human emotions – fear, in particular, and its representation in the language makes it possible to understand how fear being the basic emotion is transformed into complex emotions and verbalized in the language consciousness of the English. This article is devoted to the analysis of the language signs «awe, reverence, veneration, dread» defining «reverential fear» in the English linguoculture.
