English language as a phenomenon of linguistic domination in the modern society

The article reveals the content of the notion "global language" and de-scribes the main characteristics typical for global languages. It reviews the interaction between the "first", "second" and foreign languages within one territorial community. The authors analyzed the key prerequisites for lin-guistic domination on the example of the English language.
