The semantic content of the concept "environment " in English-speaking linguoculture

Nowadays, the environment is given a lot of attention due to the growing environmental problems caused by active human activities. The media talks about the need to make serious decisions to correct previously created problems. However, the lack of study from the point of view of cognitive linguistics provides broad material for research because ecology and environmental protection are becoming an increasingly important component of the life of the modern world community. Environmental problems penetrate into the communicative activity of society and have an impact on its discursive space. There is a growing need for a cognitive-discursive approach to studying the relationship of a person to the world around him by exploring the metaphorical conceptualization of the subject-matter "environment" in newspaper discourse. We consider the structure of this subject sphere, the formation, as well as the specifics of the functioning of conceptual metaphors, representing the phenomena of the environment. The article analyzes the semantic content of the concept "environment " on the materials of the newspaper discourse of environmental themes, which is widely used in the communicative activity of the society and influences the perception, understanding and the person's reaction to the world. The main components of the analysis were the cognitive metaphors of the conceptosphere "environment", which were rich in various source areas. In the analysis of environmental articles, descriptive and comparative methods, the method of contextual analysis, the method of quantitative analysis, conceptual analysis and the method of cognitive modeling were used.
