Journalist N.P. Gilyarov-Platonov in the perception and evaluation of A.P. Chekhov

Kalugina Marina L'vovna  (candidate of philological sciences, associate professor of the Lomonosov Moscow State University)

The article considers the perception of young A.P. Chekhov's personality and creativity of his older contemporary N.P. Gilyarova-Platonov-publisher, editor and author of the newspaper "Modern news". It is noted that A.P. Chekhov repeatedly expressed ironic, humorous and satirical assessments of a pseudo-prog and quasi-liberal journalist. Absurd, ridiculous and imaginary humane ideas, the author of which was N.P. Gilyarov-Platonov, ridiculed by a young journalist A.P. Chekhov. The study is relevant in connection with the attempts of modern literary studies to present the activities of N.P. Gilyarova-Platonov as an advanced, philanthropic, and the journalist himself-as a freedom-loving and deeply Christian personality.

Keywords:A.P. Chekhov, N.P. Gilyarov-Platonov, literary relations, senior contemporary, journalist, journalism.
