Peculiarities of propaganda of physical culture and sports in the USSR in 1918-1940

The Soviet system of propaganda of physical culture and sports for many decades contributed to the development of mass sports and the strengthening of the health of the nation. However, professional historians rarely refer to the development and development of sports propaganda in our country. The purpose of this article is to show, by the example of the methods of promoting physical culture and sports used in the first half of the twentieth century in the USSR, the importance of agitation activity for the development of Soviet sport, and for the development of the country as a whole, the improvement of the population and the enhancement of the state's defense capability. The methodological basis of the research is based on the principles of historicism, objectivity and systematic scientific analysis, whose application in the aggregate allowed to consider the development of the propaganda of physical culture and sports as an integral part of the social and political life of the USSR.
