The semantic structure of phonetic terms «огубленный» / «лабиализованный» and ‘rounded’ / ‘labialized’

The article researches the issue of semantic equality of phonetic terms denoting sounds that are pronounced with lip-rounding: «огубленный» and «лабиализованный» in Russian and ‘rounded’ and ‘labialised’ in English. It studies the definitions of the terms in question as well as the peculiarities of their functioning in scientific texts in order to make a conclusion about the discrepancy of the semantic structure of the terminological units analysed.
