Concerning the improvement of translation quality of equivalents belonging to different languages (study of the translation of lexemes «okno», «window», and «fenêtre»)

In the article the representation in dictionaries of lexemes conveying the notion “window” is compared. The degree of equivalence of English and Russian and French and Russian words is revealed. The reasons for inadequacy of translation are considered and mistakes in translation of the studied lexemes are revealed. By applying the method of reversibility, which includes back translation, cases of inner homonymy and polysemy of the English component and French component are discovered. The associations of the notion “window” in each of the linguocultures are defined.
