Semantic transformations of adjective in the present Russian language (on the material of newsletters)

Wang Qian   (postgraduate student, Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia)

In the article semantic changes of a number of adjective names, observed in the language of modern media, in news Internet tapes are considered. It is noted that the transformations can concern the concretization of the lexical meaning (the word pafosnyy), its narrowing (adekvatnyy), expansion (prelestnyy), metonymization (tsivil'nyy) and other processes. Semantic transformations are often accompanied by a change in the connotations of words, both from positive to negative (pafosnyy), and from negative to positive (brutal'nyy, ambitsioznyy). Semantic transformations of the names of adjectives are conditioned, first of all, by external laws of language development, by the the impact of changes in the society on the language. The language of the news tapes most adequately reacts to the appearance in the modern Russian of new meanings; this sphere of language use is actively developing and is characterized by the use of modern linguistic means.

Keywords:semantics, lexical meaning, change semantics, adjective, media.
