Eclecticism while teaching the English language at non-philological programs

The article deals with the pequliarities of foreign language teaching and learning at nonlinguistic universities. Several opinions are illustrated in terms of the quality of basic textbooks for students learning the English language at university. The author focuses on the issue of efficiency of foreign language teaching and learning at non-philological programs. Some difficulties that teachers face on a daily basis are analysed. To overcome these difficulties the approaches to improve the work are described.
